Dryer Repair in South Florida
No heat, long dry times, squealing, or overheating? We repair gas and electric dryers and check airflow problems that can look like a failed heater before quoting parts.
Long vent runs, roof exits, and condo ducting make airflow especially important in South Florida homes. A dryer that takes two cycles, runs very hot, or trips a thermal fuse can have a vent restriction, a heating fault, or both. We separate the airflow problem from the machine problem before quoting parts; on gas, electric, ventless, and heat-pump dryers the diagnostic path is different, so the model and installation matter.

Common dryer problems we fix
Not Heating
Dryer runs but clothes stay wet. Could be a heating element, thermal fuse, or gas igniter issue.
Takes Too Long to Dry
Multiple cycles needed to dry clothes. Often a clogged vent, broken heating element, or airflow restriction.
Won't Start
No response when pressing start. May be a door switch, thermal fuse, or start switch problem.
Making Loud Noises
Squealing, thumping, or grinding sounds. Usually worn drum rollers, belt, or bearings.
Overheating
Dryer gets extremely hot or burns clothes. Dangerous — often a blocked vent or faulty thermostat.
Won't Tumble
Motor runs but drum doesn't turn. Typically a broken belt or worn drum rollers.

How long a dryer should last
Most dryers run about 10–13 years, and many last longer because the machine is mechanically simple. Airflow matters more than climate: a restricted vent raises temperature, lengthens cycles and can trip thermal protection even when the heater itself is still working.
Is it worth repairing?
Dryers are often worth repairing because elements, thermostats, fuses, belts, rollers and idlers are replaceable parts on a simple machine. A long dry time is not automatically a failed heater, though: vent restriction, weak heat, sensing and airflow can produce the same complaint. We test those before recommending a part, and replace the machine only when the repair no longer makes economic sense for its age and design.
What changes the price
First, whether the fault is in the dryer or the vent path. After that, gas models add ignition and burner components, while ventless and heat-pump dryers use a condenser or heat-pump circuit instead of a conventional exhaust. Those systems, plus access to the vent run, are what move a dryer quote more than the symptom itself.
What the visit looks like
Most dryer calls fit in one visit. When the complaint is long dry time or overheating, airflow is checked before parts are quoted; if the vent route is inaccessible or a model-specific control or motor is needed, a second visit may be required. The point is to separate a duct problem from a machine problem before charging for either one.
Frequently asked questions
How much does dryer repair cost?
The diagnostic is $69 and is applied toward an approved repair. We separate vent or airflow problems from dryer-component failures before quoting parts, and our dryer cost page publishes completed-job data when the sample is large enough.
Do you repair gas dryers?
Yes! Our technicians handle both gas and electric dryer repair. Safety is our top priority with gas appliances.
How often should I clean my dryer vent?
We recommend professional dryer vent cleaning at least once a year. Clogged vents are a fire hazard and reduce efficiency.
