LG refrigerators here are mostly French-door and four-door models — InstaView with the knock-twice glass panel, Door-in-Door, counter-depth versions for condo kitchens — and many of them run a linear or inverter compressor driven by its own board rather than a plain on-off compressor. Laundry is the other half: front-loaders with direct-drive motors, the stacked WashTower in closets and smaller condos, and all-in-one washer-dryers. How LG appliances usually fail

On refrigerators the recurring LG faults are cooling loss on models with the linear compressor, where the compressor, its inverter board and the refrigerant charge are each tested before anything is condemned, and ice-maker trouble in the door, where humid air freezes the ice compartment fan and the display shows ER IF.

LG washers report what they could not do rather than which part failed: OE for a drain that did not finish, IE for a fill that did not, UE for a load they would not spin, and LE for a direct-drive motor that stalled — often the rotor position sensor, the stator or its wiring rather than the board. Finding the model and serial numbers on an LG

On an LG refrigerator the label is inside the fresh-food compartment, usually on a side wall near the top or behind the crisper drawers. LG front-load washers and dryers carry it inside the door frame or on the back panel, and a WashTower has one for each half. LG dishwashers have it on the side edge of the inner door, ranges on the chassis behind the lower drawer, and over-the-range microwaves on the inside wall or behind the door. A photo of that label when you book lets us check whether the likely part is a common one or has to be ordered for that model.

My LG refrigerator stopped cooling — is it the linear compressor?

Often, yes. LG's linear compressor is a known failure point that leaves the fridge running but warm. We diagnose the sealed system and compressor on-site and quote the repair before any work.

My LG washer shows OE, UE, or IE — what do those mean?
