Commercial Ice Machine Repair in Miami-Dade and Broward
When a bar or restaurant runs out of ice, the evening changes: drinks get poured short, somebody drives to a gas station for bagged ice, and the state of the bin becomes a question for the next inspection. We repair undercounter and modular commercial ice machines — Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, Scotsman and other makers — for restaurants, bars, hotels and offices. The ice maker inside a home refrigerator is a different repair with its own page.
What it is doing, and what that usually means
No ice at all
The machine hums and the bin stays empty. Most often the water is not arriving — a closed valve, a clogged filter, a failed inlet valve — and less often a refrigeration fault that needs gauges to confirm.
Ice, but not enough
Production drops in summer and never comes back. In this climate the usual reason is heat: a condenser packed with grease and dust, or a unit installed where the kitchen air is far warmer than it was built for.
Thin, cloudy or hollow cubes
Scale on the evaporator and a filter past its date. Cubes that refuse to drop at the end of a harvest come from the same place.
Water on the floor
A blocked drain, a cracked bin, or a float that no longer shuts the water off. Water near the electrical connections is a reason to switch the machine off before calling.
Error lights and constant resets
The board reports what it measures — a harvest running long, water late to arrive, temperatures out of range. We read the code before we replace anything.
The order we check things in
- Water in. Supply pressure, the filter and the inlet valve.
- Heat out. Condenser coils, the fan and the air path around the cabinet.
- Harvest. Evaporator scale, the harvest assist and the sensors that end each cycle.
- Refrigeration. Last, once the simpler causes are ruled out — a sealed-system repair is the costly answer and should never be the first guess.
Keeping it making ice between visits
Most of the calls we get for slow production trace back to upkeep that slipped during a busy season.
- Change the water filter on the date printed on it, not when the ice starts to taste off.
- Keep the condenser and the air around it clear; a machine boxed in beside a fryer is fighting itself.
- Run the descale and sanitize cycle as often as the manufacturer asks.
- Look at the bin drain weekly — standing water is the first sign of a blockage.
The visit
We schedule around service. If the machine has to come off line for descaling or a part, you hear how long before we start, so the bar can plan for it. The $69 diagnostic is applied to the repair when you approve the fixed quote.
Frequently asked questions
Should I keep using the machine while it leaks?
Switch it off if the water is anywhere near the plug or the wiring, and empty the bin. A slow drip at the drain line can usually wait for the visit; water pooling under the cabinet should not.
Is it worth repairing an older machine?
Often, because the expensive parts rarely fail first. We tell you after diagnosis if the refrigeration side is the problem and the numbers point toward replacement.
