Thermador Appliance Repair

Thermador repair in Miami-Dade and Broward: Pro Grand and Pro Harmony ranges, Star Burner cooktops, Masterpiece and Professional wall ovens, steam ovens, Freedom refrigeration columns and Sapphire dishwashers. Quote set after diagnosis.

Thermador is the American luxury brand of BSH Home Appliances, which also owns Bosch and Gaggenau, and since the late 1990s its products have carried BSH electronics and controls under a distinctly American design. The ranges are the Pro Grand, with its deep chassis and 48- and 60-inch widths, and the Pro Harmony, built 24 inches deep to sit flush with standard cabinets; both use the five-point Star Burner and the ExtraLow simmer, which cycles the flame on and off to hold temperatures a conventional burner cannot. Wall ovens, steam and convection ovens, warming drawers and cooktops come in the Masterpiece and Professional collections, which differ in handles and trim more than in what is behind the panel.

The refrigeration is the Freedom collection of panel-ready columns and bottom-freezer built-ins, and the dishwashers — Sapphire, Emerald, Topaz and Star Sapphire — are Bosch platforms with Thermador trim and a few extra features. All of it shows up in Miami-Dade and Broward's higher-end kitchens, and RapidFix Appliance Repair repairs all of it as an independent company with no relationship to BSH or Thermador. The E-Nr on the type plate is where every diagnosis begins, because BSH has revised modules and pumps within a single model name.

Common Thermador problems

Star Burner will not light or sparks continuously

Each Star Burner has its own spark electrode and a reignition sensor; the module behind the control panel fires every electrode when one of them senses no flame. A cracked electrode insulator, a wet burner base after cleaning, or a corroded electrode tip makes the bank click endlessly, while a burner that gets spark but no flame has a clogged port pattern or a slow gas valve. We test each electrode's resistance to ground before any module is quoted.

ExtraLow burner cycles on and off — is it broken?

No. ExtraLow holds a very low setting by cycling the flame off and back on through a solenoid, so a burner that goes out and relights every few seconds on its lowest mark is doing what it was designed to do. A burner that does it at every setting, or that goes out and does not relight, has a reignition or solenoid fault, and we distinguish the two before anything is replaced.

Oven error code — E011, E101, E305 and others

BSH ovens report faults as E-codes: E011 is a key held or stuck on the touch panel, E101 and E102 are the meat probe or its socket, E305 is lost communication between the control and the power module, and the E6xx group is the oven sensor. The code narrows the diagnosis to one module, but the wiring and connectors between modules are checked first, because a corroded plug produces the same code as a failed board.

Oven heats slowly or unevenly

The electric ovens in Thermador ranges and wall ovens have a hidden bake element, a broil element and a third element around the convection fan. One failed element leaves the oven heating on two of three and taking twice as long. Elements are metered for resistance; the convection fan motor and the oven sensor are checked at the same time, and the relay or power module is suspected only when all three elements test good.

Freedom column warm, or frosting inside

Each Freedom column is its own refrigerator with its own compressor, evaporator fan, defrost heater and control, so a warm column is diagnosed as a single appliance even in a paired installation. Frost on the back wall or around the drawers points at a door gasket, a hinge adjustment on the panel-ready door, or a defrost circuit that has stopped; a quiet column with no cold points at the fan or the sealed system.

Sapphire dishwasher E15, E24 or E09

Thermador dishwashers share the Bosch platform, so the codes mean the same thing: E15 is water in the base pan from a leak, E24 is a drain that did not complete, E09 is the heater circuit built into the circulation pump. The service program on the control runs each stage individually and is how a leak is traced to a seal rather than guessed from the symptom.

RapidFix Appliance Repair repairs Thermador ranges, cooktops, wall ovens, steam ovens, refrigeration columns and dishwashers across Miami-Dade and Broward. The brand's BSH controls give a technician something to work with before a panel comes off: ovens and cooktops report E-codes, dishwashers hold a fault memory and run a staged service program, and refrigeration columns display a temperature and alarm history. We read those first, then confirm the named circuit with a meter, because a code points at a module and a corroded connector or a chafed harness behind it produces the very same code at a fraction of the cost.

Thermador work has two practical wrinkles. The first is access: a Pro Grand range weighs several hundred pounds and a Freedom column sits in a cabinet run, so we plan the visit around moving them when a repair needs the back of the machine. The second is parts: BSH parts are specific to the E-Nr and some are special-order, and we tell you at the diagnosis whether the job completes that day or on a return visit. The diagnostic is $69, applied to the repair you approve; labor is warranted for 90 days and parts for up to 12 months. We serve Coral Gables, Bal Harbour, Aventura, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and surrounding communities; call (754) 888-5560 and we will offer the first open slot, same day when one exists.

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair Thermador Pro Grand and Pro Harmony ranges?

Yes — the 30-, 36-, 48- and 60-inch ranges in both lines, gas and dual-fuel, with and without the griddle and grill options. Igniters and electrodes, spark modules, gas valves, oven elements, sensors, relay and power modules, door hinges and gaskets are the components we work on, and the model's E-Nr decides the exact part.

My Thermador oven shows E305. What failed?

E305 is a communication fault between the user-interface module and the power module. One of the two boards can be the cause, but the ribbon cable and connectors between them are checked first, since a loose or corroded plug produces the same code. Replacing a board on an E305 without that step is an expensive mistake.

Can you fix a Thermador Freedom refrigerator column?

Yes. Each column is diagnosed as its own refrigerator: compressor and start components, condenser and evaporator fans, defrost heater and sensor, door gasket and hinge alignment, and the control. Panel-ready doors add weight that pulls hinges out of adjustment over time, and a door that no longer seals is a frequent cause of frost and warm-column alarms.

Do you work on Thermador steam ovens?

Yes, including the combination steam and convection ovens. The water tank sensors, the steam generator and its heater, the drain pump, the door seal and the descaling cycle are the areas we service, and a steam oven that shows a descale warning repeatedly after descaling has a sensor or generator fault rather than more scale.

My Thermador dishwasher stops and shows E15. Is it the same as a Bosch E15?

It is the same platform and the same meaning: water in the base pan has lifted the float. Draining the pan clears the code until the leak refills it. We find the leak — a sump seal, a pump or heater O-ring, a door gasket corner — with the machine running in its service program, and repair that.

How much does a Thermador diagnosis cost?

The visit is $69 and it is deducted from the repair if you approve the quote. Because Thermador parts are specific and sometimes special-order, the quote tells you the part number, the price and whether it finishes that day. Call (754) 888-5560, or book through the website.
