Miele machines are unusual in two ways that matter for repair. They are built to be serviced — the dishwasher's circulation pump, heater and sump come apart as components rather than one sealed block — and they are tightly integrated, with a fault memory that records every F-code and a programming mode that lets a technician run each component individually. Common Miele problems

Dishwasher F11 — drainage

F11 means the water level did not drop in the time the control allowed. The non-return valve under the drain pump, the pump itself, a blocked filter combination in the sump, or a kinked or siphon-choked drain hose are the places it comes from. We lift the filter and pull the pump cover before the pump is blamed, because a shard of glass in the impeller is the usual find.

Dishwasher F12, F13 or F14 — water intake

The intake codes point at the inlet side: a closed or weak supply, the Waterproof System inlet valve on the end of the hose, a blocked screen in the valve, or the flowmeter that counts water in. Low household pressure at a condo riser produces F12 on a perfectly healthy machine, so we measure pressure at the tap before ordering a valve.

Dishwasher F70 — Waterproof System

F70 is Miele's leak protection: a float in the base has lifted and the control has shut off the inlet valve and run the drain pump. The leak is found with the base dry and the machine running in programming mode, and it is usually a sump or pump seal, a heater gasket or a door seal corner. The code clears only once the base is dry and the fault memory is reset.

W1 washer F53, F35 or will not drain

F53 is the motor speed sensor or drive electronics, F35 is the door lock, and a washer that stops full of water with a drain code has a pump filter full of coins or a stalled drain pump. The W1's drum bearing and shock absorbers are checked on any spin-noise complaint, and the detergent and TwinDos pathways are inspected when the fault is odor or residue.

T1 heat-pump dryer takes hours

A heat-pump dryer recirculates air through a cold evaporator to pull moisture out, then a warm condenser to reheat it, with no vent. Lint that gets past the fluff filter mats on the heat exchanger behind the plinth filter, the condensate pump stalls, or a temperature sensor drifts and the control shortens the heat. Each is a different repair from a vented dryer, and we check airflow, the condensate path and the sensors in that order.

Oven, cooktop and coffee system faults

H series ovens report F-codes for the sensor, fan, door lock and moisture system; KM induction cooktops show an F-code when a power module, its cooling fan or the pan detection trips, and the ribbon to the touch control is a frequent culprit; the CVA coffee systems need a brew unit, grinder, milk pipework or steam heater service when the descale and clean cycles no longer cure the symptom.

Frequently asked questions about Miele repair

My Miele dishwasher shows F11. Is the pump dead?

Not necessarily. F11 says the tub did not drain in time, and the non-return valve under the pump, the filter combination, and the drain hose routing are checked before the pump is tested. A fragment of glass wedged in the impeller is a repair measured in minutes; a failed pump is a part order.

Why does my Miele show F12 only in the evening?

Because F12 is a water-intake fault and household pressure in a condo tower drops when every unit is drawing at once. We measure pressure at the dishwasher's tap; if it is marginal, the fix is on the supply side rather than in the machine. A screen blocked with sediment at the inlet valve produces the same code at any hour.

Can you repair a Miele W1 washer and T1 dryer in a condo?

Yes, including stacked and side-by-side pairs in laundry closets. The W1's drain pump filter, door lock and shock absorbers, and the T1's heat exchanger, plinth filter, condensate pump and sensors are all reachable with the pair in place; we tell you ahead of time if the dryer has to come down off the stacking kit.

Do you work on Miele built-in coffee machines?

Yes. The CVA series' brew unit, grinder, milk system and steam heater wear in predictable ways, and when descaling and the cleaning programs no longer clear a fault the unit needs a component rather than another cycle. The diagnosis tells you which one and whether the part is on hand.

Will an independent repair affect my Miele manufacturer warranty?

If your appliance is still inside Miele's manufacturer warranty, check with Miele first; a repair under that warranty is Miele's to carry out.
